Plums pears, peaches,
apples, cherries...All are here! But, first and foremost,
the Golden Chasselas Grapes have been the glory of Moissac farming production
since the middle of the nineteenth century and their excellent quality
(Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) is recognized.
Moissac where Chasselas grapes can be tasted around the Uvarium kiosk. On the third Saturday
and Sunday of September, Moissac offers its fruit for a major fair which
has given the town the title of : "CAPITALE OF FRUIT" When you come to Moissac, follow the quiet, calm atmosphere of a tour which will guide you from monuments "Stone" to streams "Water". Start in front of the doorway of the abbey-church, at the feet of hillocks and go to the Tarn river banks. Following
the tour, you will cross streets whose names in French and Occitan (regional
language) remind us of the town's past : rue du Moustier (rue de la République),
place de Pontegrantié (where "lou tregan" : gudgeon was
sold), rue Saint-Jacques (rue Jean Moura), nowadays' street of artists,
rue Lacapelette (rue de l'Inondation) : then, you will cross the "Canal
des deux mers" (Canal between the two Seas with its wonderful Westward
view; at last, you will reach the river banks which gives you its fresh,
